Chips Cronen Memorial Ride

Bridge to a Bicycle Friendly Louisville - Chips Cronen Memorial Ride. This was a ride of remembrance for George "Chips" Cronen, an experienced cyclist who was struck and killed on the 2nd street bridge while commuting home from work July 3. Chips was following all the rules of the road, the motorist was distracted and failed to see. More than 2,000 cyclists rode across the Clark Memorial Bridge to mark the opening with new shared usage signage and road markings, "Sharrows." Chips' family, along with Mayor Jerry Abramson were in attendance to help Chips' brother-in-law, Ed Tonini, commemorate the event.
