| 2007-09-08 to 09 OKHT 2007 Old Kentucky Home Tour. The 30th Annual Old Kentucky Home Bicycle Tour was a two-day ride departing from E.P. Tom Sawyer Park in Louisville on Saturday, September 8th, with three mileage routes to historic Bardstown, Ky. A 50-mile, 72-mile, and very challenging 102-mile century, which includes the legendary Pottershop Hill, and is the winner of the League of American Bicyclists Best Century 2000 award. On Sunday, September 9th, there was also a 25 or 50-mile single-day loop that goes out to the famous Cookie Stop SAG and then returns to the ride start along with the 2-day riders. All other routes overnight in Bardstown and return via a gorgeous 55-mile route on Sunday. The Old Kentucky Home Tour is a beautiful bike tour through scenic, rolling hills in rural Kentucky, fully supported with fixed and roving sags. |

| 2007-08-12 Bridge-Memorial Ride Bridge to a Bicycle Friendly Louisville - Chips Cronen Memorial Ride. This was a ride of remembrance for George "Chips" Cronen, an experienced cyclist who was struck and killed on the 2nd street bridge while commuting home from work July 3. Chips was following all the rules of the road, the motorist was distracted and failed to see. More than 2,000 cyclists rode across the Clark Memorial Bridge to mark the opening with new shared usage signage and road markings, "Sharrows." Chips' family, along with Mayor Jerry Abramson were in attendance to help Chips' brother-in-law, Ed Tonini, commemorate the event. |

| 2007-07-14 Rain
"One Day, One Way, 160 Miles!" RAIN is an annual ride across the State of Indiana sponsored by the Bloomington Bicycle Club. Its 160-mile length runs mostly on the Historic National Route 40, an older divided four-lane road with light traffic. It has gentle rolling hills. 2007 was my fifth year for riding RAIN and Tom's fourth. There were a more than a dozen participants from all around Louisville joining the 1,185 who rode. A number of the "Mad Dogs" participated. Some even did the ride fixed gear! Amazing! A few folks chose to ride straight through, treating the ride essentially as a Time Trial. They turned in some great overall times for the ride. However, most of us took advantage of the SAG stops with great food, drink and a party atmosphere. It was also the year for our personal bests. Tom and I stayed mostly together for the ride, working as team. Great weather and a gradually building tailwind combined with better cycling fitness to give us a comfortable and speedy RAIN ride with an average of 21.3 mph. Of course, we still took our breaks at the SAG stops. We soaked up some happy memories for the day. Now you can see some sights and sounds from one of the more challenging annual rides in this region. Enjoy! |

Melissa "Puddle" Hall was truly in her element as ride captain. It rained off and on for a good part of the morning--That's just the kind of weather Puddle likes!
